Originally self-published in 2002–2003, the graphic novel was later released by Visprint and received the Manila Critics Circle National Book Award in 2003. It inspired a stage musical by Tanghalang Pilipino and a feature film by Regal Entertainment in 2006. As of November 2024, an animated feature film by Rocketsheep Studio is currently in production.
